| Cheap Sex Toys |

Since humans first learnt to use tools, it is safe to assume we learnt to use objects as toys too, sex toys to be exact. Back in days of fire, furs and woolly mammoths, humans would have had truly cheap sex toys. Anything from the humble stick to the exciting fur or perhaps the tusk of the aforementioned great beast could have been used. It was a simpler time, where simple needs required simple solutions and through the ages, as man has progressed technology, toys for sex have been driving us forward.
Take the Olisbos, it can be traced back to 500 BC and was the forerunner of the now very common dildo. Greek merchants were the creators and sellers of the item. So not only do we have the Greeks to thank for democracy, women and gay males everywhere can thank them for inventing the thing we now take for granted.
That is not the only sex related thing we have the Greeks to thank for though. In 350 BC they began to spread the use of olive and vegetable oil as a sexual lubricant. So that KY jelly you enjoy using owes its existence to what we like to put on our food, yum yum.
We move then from the Greeks, to the Indians. Of course the KamaSutra pioneered many sexual positions but they also helped us out with cheap sex toys. What in particular did they invent? The penis extender! Yes that is correct, the first penis extenders began circulation around 300 AD and were made out of materials like copper and ivory.
Moving further into the modern era, it is time for the Chinese to show their ingenuity. They invented the cock ring as it is known today. Originally they were carved from ivory. As they were developed, a nub was added to the ring to rub against the female’s clitoris.
Of course no history of sex toys would be complete without looking at modern Europe. Amsterdam is known as the sex capital as the world and it is no surprise when so many of today’s toys and sexual pass times came from nearby. BDSM owes its existence as it is today to Marquis de Sade who wrote stories that popularised many of the items we use today.
Perhaps the two biggest influences on sex toys were in invented in the 1800s. Around 1840 vulcanised rubber began to be produced, which eventually enabled the production of rubber vibrators and condoms. The other invention, which came in the late 1800s, was film. While in its original state, it had no sound and was black and white that did not stop some handy entrepreneurs from opening up sex theatres. It seems weird to think about it now, but if not for those pioneers we would not have pornography as it is now. That would be a crying shame, as video porn has become one of the world’s best cheap sex toys.
